We are delighted to introduce you to Alessandra Medri, the new Executive Director of the South Florida Wildlife Center (SFWC)!

Alessandra has spent the past 25 years of her professional career as an environmental scientist and animal welfare professional in South Florida. She brings a decades-long commitment to wildlife protection and professional accomplishments in environmental conservation management and animal welfare administration to the Center.

Before joining SFWC, Alessandra has held many leadership positions working on environmental restoration programs and wildlife protection, including Senior Scientist at the Palm Beach County Environmental Resources Management Department (ERM). Her accomplishments include roles as Incident Commander for multiple sea mammal stranding responses, which included coordination with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission (FWC), to Marine Mammals Trainer, training more than 400 law enforcement and first responders annually in marine mammal animal handling, rescue, and rehabilitation techniques.  She is the principal author of various environmental restoration and disaster management plans for Palm Beach and Broward Counties. Alessandra also brings an impressive record of obtaining and managing multimillion-dollar grants and budgets for Palm Beach and Broward County Animal Care Programs.

With newly regained independence, SFWC begins an exciting next chapter with a talented and passionate animal welfare professional at our helm. Her commitment to education, respect and appreciation for all animals and their habitats, and vision for a community-focused wildlife resource center gives us new energy. With Alessandra’s experienced leadership and the enthusiastic and generous support from our friends, the Center is poised to have an impactful 2021.
