Contest Categories
  • Birds – Photos should be of birds in their natural habitat, for instance in a park or on the beach.
  • Mammals – Photos should be of wild mammals, such as squirrels, bats, or raccoons, in their natural habitat, for instance in a park or on the beach.
  • Reptiles – Photos should be of reptiles or amphibians, such as snakes, alligators, turtles, or frogs, in their natural habitat, for instance in a park or on the beach.
  • Urban Wildlife – Photos of wildlife in urban areas, for instance on benches, bird feeders, on cars or roofs, etc.
  • Up Close – Photos concentrating on the facial features, such as the eyes.
  • Junior Photographer – The photographer must be 17 years old or younger to qualify. Photo content should adhere to the aforementioned categories.
Contest Rules
  • Photos will be accepted between April 1 and April 30. The winners will be announced on May 16.
  • Each photographer is limited to five submissions.
  • Photos will be considered for more than one category if they meet the criteria.
  • Species common to Florida are preferred, but all wildlife photos that meet the category criteria will be given consideration.
  • By submitting photos to this contest, you consent to their use in the promotion of South Florida Wildlife Center’s mission and fundraising products (see the photo release statement on the contest entry form).

Prizes

Winners of the first five categories will receive a framed certificate and goody bag with SFWC merchandise. The winners of the Junior Photographer category and the Best Overall will receive their winning photo framed, a recognition plaque, and a goody bag with SFWC merchandise.
