At the South Florida Wildlife Center (SFWC), our team is the heart and soul of our mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release native wildlife. This week, weāre thrilled to shine the spotlight on Greg, one of our dedicated wildlife rehabilitators whose passion for animal care inspires us all.
Greg has been with SFWC for just four months in his current role, but his relationship with the center goes much deeper. Prior to rejoining us, Greg spent an impressive eight years as the Rescue and Release Coordinator, honing his expertise in wildlife care and gaining invaluable hands-on experience. He now works closely with our rehabilitating patients daily, ensuring they have everything they need for a successful recovery.
When asked what he enjoys most about his work, Greg shared:
“Being able to witness the recovery of each patient. I enjoy adapting the rehabilitation process for every animal, seeing how it can be different based on the species.”
This personalized approach to rehabilitation is a cornerstone of Gregās work. Every animal is unique, and Gregās dedication to tailoring their care reflects his deep respect for wildlife and his commitment to helping them thrive.
Outside of his impactful work with wildlife, Greg has another creative outlet: music! He revealed that he plays guitar and even performs locally as part of a musical duo. Occasionally, heāll lend his voice to a song or two as well! This artistic side of Greg adds yet another layer to the dynamic individual he is.
When it comes to the animals he works with, Greg doesnāt pick favorites. Instead, he appreciates the uniqueness of each animal and its experiences. This mindset speaks volumes about his approach to wildlife rehabilitationātreating every patient with the care and respect they deserve, no matter the species.
Gregās story is a testament to the meaningful and rewarding work done at the South Florida Wildlife Center. If youāre inspired by his journey and want to explore a role in wildlife rehabilitation, we encourage you to check out our internship programs. Theyāre a fantastic way to gain hands-on experience and make a difference in the lives of native Florida wildlife.
